December’s Eve

Wow! It’s Christmas time already! My favorite time of the year. I love the ambience that comes with December and Christmas. It’s beautiful really. It’s a time of joy and happiness, a time of being in the presence of the ones you love, a time of giving, it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

Before I start getting too hyped up about Christmas, let me catch you up on how my week has been.

This week has been something, to say the least. I don’t wanna say it was “shitty” because despite the unfortunate events that have transpired against me this week, I am feeling good, all smiles here. On Sunday, looking ahead to see how this week was going to play out, I knew it was going to beat my ass. First, I knew I had a lab report that I had completely neglected over Thanksgiving break that was going to be due on Wednesday for my lab class. And on top of that, I still had a 20 minute and a five minute group presentation to work on for that same class. Next up, was math. Thursday I had a math test to take. I  took the practice exam and got a 50% so I was not looking forward to that. Lastly, nothing could have prepared me for the ticket I got this morning; other than maybe following the rules.

Let’s begin with how school went this week. My lab reports have always been okay they don’t get “A’s”, but I’m fine with high and low “B’s”.  However, with this last one I turned in, I’m speculating that I’ll probably be getting a less than okay score. I turned it in on time which is what matters, and the professor is really lenient with grading, but I’m pretty sure I’m pushing my luck this week with that assignment. The presentations for lab actually weren’t that difficult, the 20 minute presentation was the one that I feared the most, but my lab group and I managed to come through and get a perfect score. Now, math test. I was for sure thinking it was going to be terrible, but it was only partly terrible. I passed with a 73% but with the supplemental exam that I get to take, I can get an 86%, so bless up. It was tough, but I got through it, which is great! I only have like a week left of school and then I’m on break again.

Now today, on my way home from school. I was chillin’ in the HOV lane on the 60 heading east and to my misfortune I caught up to a state trooper; you know, the ones that drive around in the fancy, new, grey, Ford Explorers. Well, I was one exit away from being home and he flashed his lights, turned on his siren, and pulled me over. I said to myself, “damn, so close to being home”. I turned on my blinker and steered off the highway, all the way from one side to the other and stopped. I wasn’t stressing or anything really, but I did know that my license was expired so I was expecting to get butt blasted by this cop. We stopped and he came over to my passenger side window and began his spiel. “License and registration… Do you know why I pulled you over?”, and all that, he said with a smile on his face, an older looking white guy. He took my documents and went back to his car. While he was back in his car getting my ticket ready, I was already imagining the fees I was going to have to pay. Driving in the HOV lane without a passenger is easily a $400 fine, which sucks because he pulled me over 10 minutes before nine, after nine o’clock anyone can use that lane. He came back and didn’t even mention my expired license and gave me my ticket. The whole interaction easily took less than five minutes, but damn he really started my Friday off on a poor note. I appreciate him not being mean or short-tempered, he was actually pretty nice about the whole thing, but I don’t appreciate the ticket, he could have kept that to himself. Now this means that I’ll either pay the ticket and take the points on my license or attend traffic school like I did last year. Traffic school is a big yikes, it’s four hours long and you still have to pay an absurd amount to actually take the class. Despite the ticket, I’m chilling. He got me, it is what it is, but it’s all good.

All in all, this week wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. If anything, the worst thing that happened this week was the ticket which can be easily fixed. I’m really looking forward to December this year. There’s only 31 days remaining of 2018 after today, so make the most of it. Tell someone you love them, take a risk, ask that girl or dude out, take that job offer, make this the best December ever! I am abundantly ambitious about the remainder of the year. I don’t know why, but I have a good feeling about it. Now, I hope everyone reading has a fantastic start to their December. Remember to make the most of it! Love you guys and thanks for reading!
